“Global demand for semiconductors remained high in May, with year-to-year sales increasing strongly across all major regional markets and product categories,” says SIA CEO John Neuffer, “continuing high demand for semiconductors will necessitate more chip research, design, and manufacturing in the years ahead. We urge leaders in Washington to swiftly enact bipartisan innovation and competitiveness legislation that ensures a large share of this chip production and innovation occurs on U.S. soil. The clock is ticking.”

  1. Thanks Mike, it makes a change to see you more bullish than Malcolm!

    • David – a reminder ==> my monthly forecast result is dynamic in the sense that it does NOT “sit still” BUT responds to the monthly sales numbers published by the SIA/WSTS – that is, it is a real time, monthly forecast as the year plays out month by month. That. I believe, is the ‘beauty’ of the Cowan LRA Mudel coupled with a monthly based forecasting approach. Consequently, stay tuned each month for the latest yearly forecast prognostications.

  2. Hi David – the Cowan LRA forecast model for global semiconductor sales predicts an overall 2022 sales revenue of $650.455 billion based upon the SIA’s latest May 2022 sales results described in your artice above. This sales forecast translates to a projected yr-o-yr sales growth estimate of 17% for 2022 relative to 2021 sales of $555.893 billion.
